I like watching video's like this if for no other reason than to see techniques other artists use to produce quick art.

The complete absence of light. Because of impurities, you can not create black with pigments. In most black pigments, the is a slight blue trace. A black surface absorbs all light.
Balance

An art and design principle concerned with the arrangement of one or more elements in a work of art so that they appear symmetrical (even) or asymmetrical (uneven) in design and proportion.
Basic color principles
By admin on Oct 7, 2011 | In Art Glossary/Definitions | Send feedback »
All color theory is based on the principle that 'color is light'.
An object that we see as red contains pigmentation which absorbs all of the colored rays of white light except the red color, which it reflects. White pigment absorbs none of the colored rays, and black absorbs all of the colors of the spectrum.

Membership is no longer required. Instead, we offer a stock photo service catering specifically to the needs of artists.
Fundamentally, our goal is to make available to you all sorts of images; flowers, trees, vases, vehicles, in addition to our growing catalog of clothed and unclothed models.
WAIT! Before you move on to our catalog I want to enlist your help in building our catalog. We are desperate to find artists, photographers and models who want to contribute any kind of image to expand our fabulous Figures and Forms catalog, which has a large variety of models each shot in a pose, each with views 360 degrees around the figure.
So this week we are opening up our catalog for you to access without membership. Of course, as in every new venture, there will be bumps in the road and mistakes made as we learn our way in this new world. But learn we will and your needs will always be of primary importance to us. WHY?
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU, THE ARTISTS and we need you to join our Facebook page, we need you to interact with us on our website, we need you to subscribe to our newsletter, but most of all, we need you to go out there and find interesting images, ideas and subjects that you think would help the Artistic community as a whole, POST THEM & EARN $$$ every time someone buys your image.
I know this is a lot to take in so please just enjoy our current catalog and keep checking back because there is already tons of stuff we have not yet posted.
We have over 300 new definitions to add to our database and tons of new tutorials about to come on line. So check all the new featureres and if you have any ideas or improvements please let us know.
So visit our homepage at www.figuresandforms.com
Thanks

I need some feedback
By admin on Aug 13, 2011 | In News | Send feedback »
There are lots of art sites out there that give artists a place to show their art. My question is "Do we need another?". What we have been thinking about is just a one page presentation of your work. We are already planning a market place for you to sale your art. Do you want a single page that tells alittle about yourself and shows some of your art. If there is an interest we will even go as far as providing a blog for the artists.
I know you first question is "what will it cost me", we like to keep things simple so how about we offer three choices. 1) one page for Free, 2) A limited blog (limited space) for maybe $3/month, and finally 3) a full blog with all capabilities for say $5/month.
Let us know what you think. Our main goal here at Figures and Forms is to provide everthing we can to help you create your art and get it seen by the art buyers. So dont hold back and give us all your thoughts.
Even if we have not come up with an idea, give us ideas and we will see what we can do. You know what you need and we will do what we can to get it for you.
Keep checking back, we have so many new programs about to be rolled out but we are waiting till the major change over which will happen between the 19th and 22nd. We will be back up and running on August 22nd.
Wow you guys keep coming... so here you all are

Sorry the blog has not been updated. To be honest I forgot about this one, Figures and Forms has two, one here and one on the members side.
Now the good news!!!!!
The members side is going away and we are setting the entire system up on the same concept as a stock photo site.
We are moving the TONS of content on the members blog over to this blog and it will all be free. We have over 300 tutorials and I still have 100's more to post.
We are also setting the site up so you, the artists, can post and make money on your photo's, art and anything else just like a stock photo site and art for sale site. It will not be a bid system, but a flat price you charge. More info to come in the next month.
The transition should start in 2 weeks and you will see tons of changes. Please remember to come to the site via our front page at www.figuresandforms.com. I will add a link to this blog there so you can get here and keep abreat on all the updates.
Thanks
Kenneth

Anisotropic Reflections

Anisotropic Reflections
By Neil Blevins
Created On: June 19th 2002

What are Anisotropic Reflections? We've all heard the word, but may not have a solid understanding of what they are in the real world, how they get produced, and what our options are in 3d to replicate them. This tutorial is meant to hopefully answer some of those questions.
First, as a basic definition. Anisotropic is defined as follows:
anisotropic (adj.) an·i·so·trop·ic 1. Physics. of unequal physical properties along different axes. Cf. isotropic
As a more everyday practical definition, Anisotropic Reflections are just like regular reflections, except stretched or blurred based on the orientation of small grooves (bumps, fibers or scratches) that exist on a reflective surface. For example, take a look at this Brazil image (rendered with an alpha anisotropic shader, this shader is not currently available to the public)...
